MAN Truck & Bus has started series production of MCS-ready eTGX and eTGS electric trucks, marking Europe's first commercial rollout of heavy-duty trucks equipped for the Megawatt Charging System (MCS). The technology enables charging speeds of up to 750 kW, allowing batteries to recharge from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes—well within mandatory driver rest periods.
Designed for long-haul operations, the trucks can cover more than 1,000 km per day, with driving ranges of up to 570 km between charging stops. The first vehicles will be delivered to customers across nine European countries as MAN works alongside infrastructure providers to accelerate the rollout of the MCS charging ecosystem.
Why it matters
The breakthrough shifts the conversation from electric truck range to charging speed. By dramatically reducing downtime, MCS technology could remove one of the biggest barriers to battery-electric freight, bringing zero-emission long-distance logistics closer to mainstream adoption.
