Scania Secures Order for 27 Biogas Buses to Expand Sustainable Intercity Transport in Sweden

Scania has signed an agreement with transport operator Nobina to supply 27 biogas-powered intercity buses for services operated on behalf of Skånetrafiken, the public transport authority in Sweden's Skåne region. The new buses will operate on the Malmö–Lund and Kristianstad corridors, strengthening the region's long-term commitment to sustainable public transport. The buses, built on the Scania Irizar i4 platform, have been specially configured for longer regional journeys with coach-style seating, onboard toilet facilities and enhanced passenger comfort. The order also marks the first deployment of the Scania Irizar i4 model in Swedish public transport. Powered by compressed biogas produced from organic waste, the vehicles offer significantly lower carbon emissions while supporting local energy production and fuel security.
