Summer heat is one of the most demanding seasons for commercial vehicle cooling systems. Radiators, hoses, water pumps, and thermostats all work harder when ambient temperatures rise and engines run under sustained load. Fleet managers should schedule pre-season inspections covering coolant level and quality, pressure cap function, fan clutch operation, and signs of hose deterioration. Even minor leaks can escalate quickly in hot weather. Drivers should be trained to monitor temperature gauges and report early warning signs such as intermittent overheating or cabin heating issues that may indicate coolant loss. Preventive maintenance during spring and early summer is far less expensive than emergency roadside recovery and engine damage repairs during peak operating months.
